Our WILD President, Alessa Aguayo was invited by Delta and the Yankees to particate in a unique event called – Women in Male Dominated Industries. They received a private tour of the stadium, dinner and had the opportunity to enjoy a great panel of female leaders including Jean Afterman and Jess Sims.
Delta Airlines hosted a private event at their club at Yankee Stadium called Women in Male Dominated Fields. About 40 women local to the New York City area were invited to the Delta SKY360° Suite Club to start the evening off with an open bar and passed appetizers. The Yankees were away so the group got a private tour of the stadium while each of their names scrolled on the marquee. They got to visit the Yankee’s dugout as well as Monument Park.
After the tour, dinner was served and an all-women’s panel was presented – two guest speakers were Jean Afterman and Jess Sims. Afterman has worked for the Yankees for nearly 25 years while Sims started her career in fitness and now works for ESPN. Other panel speakers included local Bronx business owner and delta executive. Delta is committed to supported MBWE businesses and asked the audience what it could do to further support women.
Panel discussions included advice for women to excel in male dominated fields, grow their business and how to handle tough situations in the corporate world. Attendees had a variety of backgrounds from construction, marketing, STEM and other fields. After the panel discussion and dinner, women were free to network and chat with panel speakers. All attendees were sent home with customized Yankees jerseys plus a Delta and Yankees swag bag!
